Delhi CM refuses tax waiver worth Rs 24 crore for DDCA, India-SA Test in limbo
As the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) fights against time to get clearances from authorities concerned to host the fourth and the final Test match between India and South Africa, there was more trouble in store for the state cricket body on Monday as Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal refused to give any leeway.
Kejriwal refused to waive off the Rs 24 crore entertainment tax from the DDCA and has also declined working President Chetan Chauhan's plea for a deferral to the timeline of the payment of the tax.
Kejriwal is also set to make public the report on the DDCA by a three-member committee.
The committee was set up after the Bishan Singh Bedi-led National Capital Territory Cricket Association (NCT) had appealed to Kejriwal to intervene into the non transparent ways of the DDCA's functioning.
The BCCI will also be keeping a keen eye on proceedings as they are set to decide on keeping New Delhi as the venue for the last Test scheduled scheduled to begin from December 3.
The DDCA is reportedly running bankrupt and hence unable to meet the Rs 24 crore demanded by the government as entertainment tax for the
Test, which is why they sought Delhi Chief Minister's help following BCCI's warning.
